Our work is further guided by our testimonies of equality, stewardship, simplicity, integrity and community. We also believe that the later years of life are full of potential for love, growth, friendship, and contributions to others. Believing this, we seek to fulfill the following values and goals:

VISION STATEMENT

Kendal~Crosslands Communities will continue to be recognized as one of the leading organizations in the United States serving older people. Kendal~Crosslands Communities will work toward maintaining this reality and reputation by bringing to life its values, mission, and strategic goals.

Kendal~Crosslands Communities will strive to embody a model of teamwork that expresses the Quaker testimony that there is that of God in every person. Our vision is a community which affords opportunities for independent living in the midst of supportive friends, and which emphasizes each resident’s wellness as a whole person, supported by our continuum of health care services. One can grow old with both enthusiasm and dignity through participation in a community offering avenues for creative activity, financial stability and privacy at a reasonable cost in an attractive setting.

Our organization will aspire to be a leader in its market area, endeavor to be dynamic, gather local market data and anticipate changes in competition. We will innovate and accept the risks necessary to keep our services and each of our communities at the forefront in our environment, and strive to be a model of excellence and efficient operation.

Kendal~Crosslands Communities will develop reserves for financial assistance to residents and a capacity to offer financial assistance to applicants who otherwise could not enter or remain in one of our communities. We will search for diverse ways to serve a broad range of older adults, will extend services from our continuing care communities to older people in the wider community, and will form new programs of service which are not necessarily linked to our residential environments. In the years ahead, Kendal~Crosslands Communities will have a greater diversity among all its constituents and will be more involved in the greater Brandywine Valley community.

We envision our communities as supportive homes and a workplace where love is made visible through a broad interaction among residents, staff, and boards, where trust and understanding grow from open communication and listening.
