Crosslands Spiritual Life Committee

Mission

We are an inclusive non-denominational committee serving as a coordinating resource for topics related to the understanding of spirit. We define “spirit” as the many realms of consciousness that exist behind solid matter, which can be explored from both theistic and non-theistic perspectives. We offer programs and services to deepen each person’s ability to draw on these realms for their own well-being and for their interactions with others.

Our committee serves as an enabling body for any resident wishing to present a program or offer resources on a spirit-based topic; please bring your concept to a committee member. We provide information on all variations of spiritual knowledge; if you see a gap in our information, please let a committee member know.

How to Talk With a Tree
Atala Toy
Wed Jan 24, 3:30pm
WPR & TV13

Over the centuries, many cultures and many people have talked with trees. Contemporary Westerners, working in a matter-based culture, consider his type of relationship with nature to be simply “imagination.” But is it?

Join us at this lively visual presentation by Atala Toy – a photographer and communicator who has taught many thousands of people the simple methods that enable humans and nature to communicate and cooperate harmoniously.

She will show you where, at Kendal-Crosslands, you can visit very aware trees who would enjoy communicating with you, and she will teach you how to do so.

Community Visitation Program

This program pairs residents in the Independent Living area of Crosslands with residents in Audland and Firbank. These volunteers are caring friends who provide socialization and a friendly ear. The program is headed by Judy Mason, Judith Greene and Thomas Swain and liaisons with Jeri Iacono, Crosslands Life Enrichment Manager. If you would like to join the group, contact either Judy Mason or Jeri Iacono.

Public Events

The SLC offers a public event once a month. It is usually – not always – held the 4th Wednesday of each month, 3:30pm, in the William Penn Room and on CH13.
