NATURAL AREAS COMMITTEE

One of the most attractive features of the Crosslands campus is its extensive natural areas. Crosslands’ 273 acres (contiguous with 124 acres of the Kendal campus) include 35 acres of meadows and 75 acres of woods through which run two streams. These natural resources are traversed and linked by trails.

The Grounds Maintenance Department, in collaboration with the Natural Areas Committee is responsible for the oversight and protection of the plants and wildlife on the campus. The Natural Areas Executive Committee consists of residents with particular interest in ongoing activities or special projects which include birding, hiking and the cultivation of native plants. The resident “Woodland Workers” help with tree planting and clearing invasive plants.
