The Energy Committee

The MISSION of the Crosslands Energy Committee, working in conjunction with the KCC, is to develop and ensure implementation of plans for a 50% carbon footprint reduction by 2030, and for carbon neutrality by 2050 (in accord with the Paris Agreement goals).

The Committee selects, promotes, and carries out resident programs to conserve energy and sustain the environment. The Committee also encourages the Kendal-Crosslands Communities staff and board to institute energy conservation and sustainability programs.

WHEN WE MEET
We meet at 1:00 pm on the second Tuesday of each month from September to June in the Nature Room.

The Committee’s OPERATING APPROACH

A – Identify, publicize, and conduct resident activities that conserve energy and sustain the environment.

B – Encourage and assist the KCC staff in conserving energy and sustaining the environment.

C – Encourage the KCC board to institute policies, programs, and capital investments that conserve energy and sustain the environment.

D- Provide displays and lectures to promote general awareness of energy related topics.

E – Coordinate with related committees and groups within the Kendal Corporation.

The Committee’s ORGANIZATION

A – Committee officers shall be Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary ─ elected in May for one-year terms that begin in July. The Chair shall be a Crosslands Resident. Officers should serve no more than three consecutive terms in any position.

B – Vacancies shall be filled by the Chair, with the approval of the committee, whenever they arise.

C – Ex-officio members of the committee shall be the KCC Director of Facilities Services and a representative of the related Kendal committee.
